More information...
In our check ins we’ll have a little introduction to everyone then talk about your top priority projects as well as what you feel you need in terms of advice, deadlines, motivation, gaps in knowledge or confidence boosts!
In our 1-2-1s we’ll go a bit deeper into how I can help - it could be a specific project you are stuck on or some advice about who to contact with your script/idea or some career advice. We could do some deadline setting for the next three months and start to put a plan into action! This is all about YOU! We’ll get some industry professionals to chat to us each month - it may be an agent, a producer a director or even an actress! You get to ask them questions in a small and safe environment - plus it’s a contact for you to add to your list. During the Marketing workshop we look at ways we can feel confident marketing ourselves and our work - we dig into LinkedIn, emails, social media, networking and more.
The private space on WhatsApp is a safe space to celebrate, rant, ask questions and share experiences! No question is a silly question and hopefully we can all help each other with all aspects of this writing life.
Who am I!?
You might be wondering who on earth I am and how I’m ‘qualified’ to mentor you...good question!
I studied English and Studies in Modern writing at Uni but that was a billion years ago! Over the past 15 years I’ve been writing and working within the TV and Film industry - I started out writing children's books which were picked up by a producer back in 2014 - exciting and nerve wracking. My son was only two at the time and I actually didn't know if I was coming or going but I do know that I fell in love with writing for TV. I’d never even considered it as a career but when you’re sitting in the office of the Vice President of Disney talking about your ideas being on telly - there was no going back for me!
I worked some really shitty jobs while trying to write and forge ahead with my writing career - then my Dad passed away and I lost all my confidence and creativity for a while - then, about a year later I suddenly got it back. I filled two note books full of ideas for ALL THE THINGS! I had TV dramas, films, kids shows, game shows, short films, comedy, thrillers - you name it! I worked with producers, script editors and development execs (I just emailed everyone!). I collaborated with more experienced writers and had a project in development with ITV. They passed right at the last moment but I learnt SO MUCH about the industry, about my writing and my voice and about working with others.
During lockdown I finally got an agent and since then I’ve had projects optioned by production companies and been in development with Sky Comedy. I’ve been in three writers’ rooms and I’d finally consider myself a working writer. I have a slate of projects that I am constantly talking to people about and I work at Scribe Lounge as a tutor and facilitator of script swaps and the famous Writing Rooms! I’ve co-written on two films (both in pre-production) and I founded Bristol AF Productions with my writing mates Joe Sims and Paul Holbrook.
At the age of 45 I have finally figured out what I’m good at - Writing scripts, coming up with ideas and helping people (particularly women) in the screenwriting space. I’m a massive fan of a WhatsApp voice note if you need a pep talk! There’s nothing I love more than seeing confidence grow in terms of the physical act of writing but also helping people believe that they belong in this industry, that there is space for us all and that our stories are important.
Next steps...
I only open up two groups per year - so if you would like to be included in the January 2025 cohort please let me know ASAP! I will set you up with the personalised spreadsheet and access to the shared Google Folder. Nearer the start date I’ll add you to the WhatsApp group and we can get going.
Excited to get started!

“In an industry that often feels like a closed shop, Amy helps to open the doors. I was close to throwing in the towel when I joined “The Circle.” But Amy and the fellow screenwriters in the group gave me renewed vigour. Amy spends personal time with you too, helping to focus on next steps and how to tackle the industry quirks. I highly recommend The Circle if you need support to keep moving forward as a screenwriter.”
"Writing is a lonely journey, but Amy's mentoring circle and her 1-2-1 support have been invaluable to me over the past 6 months. She's the one I want to show everything to and she'll always make you feel like you can do anything. A fountain of knowledge and cheerfulness that makes you want to work harder. For a writer not currently on the inside of the industry it's fantastic to have that supportive network of people you can just chat to when you've had a bad day, or those you can share successes with. Amy is a kind and generous leader never far away with a voice message pep talk or a quick zoom."
